I recently purchased a new steamer from Carrefour during their Black Friday Sale and thought I would share my review here. I have never been so excited to use a product. This is peak adulthood 🤣
I purchased the steamer from Carrefour. The branch at Two Rivers Mall. It now retails at 9,995 KES but I got mine during their Black Friday sale. It was 20% off then!
Anyways, let’s get into it. I also shared my recap on Instagram so feel free to follow me there as I try to do weekly reviews there.
First Impressions
I got the Philips 3000 Series hand steamer from Carrefour Kenya. I love the colour! I chose green but there is also a blue and pink option. It is very light making it portable and easy to store. I love the size too! It is smaller than an iron box so you can travel with it as it’s ‘foldable.’
The best part was reading the instructions. The instructions were pretty simple and accompanied with visuals. They had the instructions in several languages too (English, French, German and Arabic!)
My only complaint is that my purchase was to come with a pouch for storage but the pouch was missing. This was upsetting since the product was sold as travel friendly and the pouch was to support that claim.
Demo
At the beginning I put my outfit on my bed but I think the position was not ideal, especially since no iron board needed is a selling point. I noticed that it’s faster when your item is hanging on a hanger. For this reason, I would recommend hanging your outfit while steaming. It makes it easier to direct the steam to the outfit.
The video in my demo is a corduroy dress so it took longer to steam than usual because of the ‘thicker’ material. I noticed that cotton and silk take less time.
There is a detachable container for water. It only holds 100 ml of water. I had to add water several times because I had too many clothes to steam. This steamer is convenient if you only want to steam one outfit for that session. In my own opinion, ironing is better and faster/stronger to remove stronger wrinkles.
Would I Recommend?
I got a compact steamer so it is definitely small in size! The water tank only holds 100 ml of water so I had to refill it several times. Yes, if you travel and plan to steam your clothes. This size is perfect and the specifications are ideal for travelling and can be a carry on.
On the other hand, it is not ideal for super wrinkly clothes. It takes ages to straighten clothes. For this reason, iron boxes are better for stronger wrinkles. I would recommend a larger steamer if you have loads of clothes to steam!
Where To Purchase?
I purchased the steamer from Carrefour and they also offer online deliveries. Tip: every weekend carrefour has visa offers. if you pay using a local visa debit card (online) you get 500 kes off! But your order has to be at least 2500/=
You have to add the code VISA500 before checkout. The more you know 🤩
